I’m Melody, founder of Sunday James Designs — a name inspired by my son’s middle name and the joy of creating something meaningful. From an early age, I was drawn to the way spaces tell stories. I spent hours sketching floor plans, dreaming up interiors, getting lost in fabric aisles, and — much to my husband Mark’s amusement — constantly rearranging rooms and planning our next renovation. Eventually, he encouraged me to take that creative energy and share it with others.
That encouragement planted the first seed of what would become Sunday James.
After years leading brand marketing and communications in the corporate world, I felt called to return to a more hands-on, expressive form of creativity—one grounded in beauty, purpose, and the rhythms of daily life. Shifting into interior design and event styling was a leap toward the work that brings
me real joy. Helping others find inspiration and ease in their spaces, or meaning in their
milestones, is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
Over time, I’ve also found myself returning to my brand roots—offering creative direction, messaging, and marketing strategy for small businesses and organizations. While it wasn’t part of the original vision for Sunday James, it’s become a valuable and rewarding extension of the work: helping others shape not just beautiful spaces, but compelling stories that move their business forward.
